Important Facts about 55-57 Chevys
The beauty of 55-57s is that the basic design was sound and still works today. Whatever model you choose: 2 door, 4 door, Sedan, Wagon, Sportcoupe or Convertible they are the same wheelbase. If you want to drive one often, they really only need a few upgrades to bring them up to a modern driving standard. These are front disc brakes, a 1″ front sway bar, electronic ignition, alternator, power steering and radial tires. Making the right choice with so many different parts today you will be better off and happier with the final outcome if you do your comparisons on more than cost.

Sheetmetal Reality Check !
In spite of all the programs and advertising you may see, the reproduction sheetmetal is not perfect. The offshore products are thinner but in most cases are made with more accurate tooling. The USA parts are thicker but the steel is softer than original but more workable. All exterior items require some compromises of fit and accordingly additional work and settling for compromises, the less you wish to compromise the more work it is going to take to reach your level of perfection.

Stored inside since late 70’s, Used rarely. Body Quarters replaced, left side GM, right side Made Right. Door Skins replaced [GM]. Left Fender heal replaced, Right Fender replaced [GM]. Floor pans & trunk floor original. Dash top replaced due to leaky windshield. Windshield & Dash Pad replaced. Car repainted red Lacquer unfortunately moisture trapped in paint or primer that appears as small dots all over surface. That is the current condition of paint. Most of the work including paint was done decades ago. Interior original except for drivers seat bottom that has been replaced, Carpet & Mats replaced. Bumpers, Taillights replaced, Engine 250 6 cyl rebuilt & installed in ‘70s, electronic ignition, Carb new in 1980 rebuilt, Fuel pump replaced in 2017. 350 Turbo trans installed in 2017. Radiator new in 1980. Battery new 2024. Borgeson Power Steering box 2017. Front Disc Brakes 2015-16. New Booster, Master Cyl all lines & Rr whl cylinders. Have extra parts not installed: New Gas Tank, Tank Sender, Trunk Spoiler [GM] Has older AM/FM radio. Convertible top new in ‘80s. Call or email if interested. $18,000

Interior mostly stock except front bucket seats. 305 small block 600 cfm Holley, 5 speed Stick not overdrive 10 bolt 70s rear, 4 wheel power Disc brakes. Wheels; American Salt lake slots. 6” front 7” rear. Drop spindles. UD AC. Stock steering box with original style power assist. Was repainted in Urethane around 2001. Car has been indoors ever since. Car came from Arkansas restored by a good guy from Missouri. Body off paint on underneath is still there. Driven rarely in the last decade or so. Recently replaced the gas tank fuel pump & tank line because of that. Am Fm radio with CD player in trunk. I have owned the car since 1985. All chrome is very good. Took a PA brine bath around 2009 followed a tanker truck that was spraying the stuff in front of me. Needs a frame. There was other eventual rusting of Brake lines & a few other things that were replaced as necessary. But has sat since 2020. Plowed our parking lot until it was no longer safe to drive $6000.
